Three quick decisions:
A 1/2" drive click wrench in the 10–150 ft-lb range. That covers virtually every car and light-truck lug spec (usually 80–150 ft-lb) with room to spare, and it's the same wrench you'll use for suspension and brake work.
For most home use, click: it's cheaper, needs no batteries, and the click is all you need for lug nuts. Digital is worth it if you want an exact number and an audible alert for precise specs, or you work across many different torque values.
Occasionally, yes — good ones hold accuracy for a long time, but they drift. Always dial a click wrench back to its lowest setting when you store it (relaxes the spring), and have it re-checked every year or two if you rely on it.
No — use a breaker bar or regular ratchet to break bolts loose. Loosening with a torque wrench (or pulling past its click) knocks it out of calibration. It's a tightening tool only.
